The morning of we gave Julian his Easter basket which included a new Ben 10 watch (he lost the previous one). He seemed more excited about his Easter basket and it's contents than he was over his Christmas presents, haha. We dyed, or "marbleized" eggs that morning then headed up to Tracy for one of Caneisha's over the top, fabulous dinners. At this point I should probably mention the ham and it's awesomeness because if I don't Jeremy will be sad. After dinner we had an Easter egg hunt in the backyard, where Jeremy and Julian got into an argument over whether or not a sprinkler head was part of a toy hidden for the hunt (Jeremy is still saying "IT WASN'T!") and then we did our traditional cascarone cracking!
To get marbled eggs we used Martha Stewart's recipe (Thanks, Mahhhtha! I <3 you!!):
3 cups of warm water
1/2 cup of white vinegar
1 tbsp of olive oil
2 different colors of food dye PER bowl, # of drops per each color is up to you.
Example: we used 15 drops of blue and 25 drops of red in ONE bowl. The two colors sort of separate because of the oil and make a swirl pattern
Gently mix all ingredients together, submerge egg and roll around with a fork for 30 seconds or so, carefully take egg out with a spoon and pat dry with a paper towel.
