Julian meets his Great-Grandpa 3-29-09

Sunday we set out to meet my Grandfather. We picked him up from his house and then we went to San Antonio to eat on the Riverwalk. After dinner we walked around the Riverwalk buying souvenirs and window shopping. Julian rode on a one eyed mechanical bull they had set up on the walk. A crowd gathered to watch him ride it one handed. He’s a little super-star no matter where we go.

Meeting Master Cole Kaylen

Today the family went down to the South Bay to see Aunt Tiffany, Uncle Chris and Cousin Cole. When first holding Cole I couldn’t believe that Julian was actually that small once and relished in the new baby smell (I love that smell!). I was told that Cole was a very sleep baby who doesn't open his eyes much , but while holding him he seemed very alert, staring at me and concentrating on my voice. After I held the baby it was Julian's turn. He was super excited about this. We were amazed at how well he did with Cole and how calm he was when Cole was in his arms. Julian tried to touch the baby’s face once or twice and when we told him not to he actually listened without any fuss. Eventually Tiff had to take the baby back to nurse and Julian started crying. It was so sweet. I can't wait to watch these two grow up together. I'm sure they'll be best buddies.

We think Tiff and Cole should be going home tomorrow. Hopefully we’ll get to see them on Thursday while Daddy is at work.

Continuing the Texas Trip - 3-28-09

On this day Julian woke up and asked my brother, Robert to take him on a walk. While on their walk Robert showed Jules how to put coins on the train tracks to flatten them out (very exciting for Jules). After their walk Robert and my Dad took Julian to the Flea Market, where they cleared out the toy section. When they returned they tested out all of the toys they had bought. Julian was in country living heaven with all the open space and outside fun.

Since my Dad’s birthday was the day before we decided to throw him a small BBQ. A lot of good food was made and eaten. We also had a birthday cake for my Dad and I’m pretty sure Julian thought it was his birthday because he HAD to blow out the candles.

After the BBQ died down, we enlisted my Uncle Albert to watch Julian so that my Dad, Nat (Natalie is my Dad’s girlfriend), Robert and myself could go to Charley’s, the neighbor bar, where hippies have to use the back door.

By the way, a big thank you to Uncle Albert for watching Julian while the adults went out for spirits. When Julian woke up and started crying because mommy wasn't there, it was really quick thinking telling him if he stopped crying he could have as much cake and strawberries he wanted at 1:30 am. :P
