Going Back to Oklahoma 3-30-09

Monday we left Texas and headed back to Oklahoma. Along the way we stopped off at the Alamo, a huge outlet mall, and Rudy’s Wurst BBQ, which was featured on the Food Channel.

Hello everyone!

So I've booked two days (5/24-25/09) at a hotel in Monterey Bay, CA at the Hilton Garden Inn in Monterey:

Hooray, our first family vacation! We're so looking forward to taking Julian to the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium and the beach, and just generally relaxing and spending time with one another. Hopefully Aunt Jennifer will join us (and if she's feeling really charitable perhaps doing some babysitting so Ape and I can go out for the evening but we'll see about that one). At any rate, I've also decided to take a week off in May after my birthday (on the 24th) and this little vacation will kick off the week. Hopefully I'll have enough time to get April's apartment totally squared away and also some time to spend enjoying with the fam.

Love you all and hope all is well!

Julian meets his Great-Grandpa 3-29-09

Sunday we set out to meet my Grandfather. We picked him up from his house and then we went to San Antonio to eat on the Riverwalk. After dinner we walked around the Riverwalk buying souvenirs and window shopping. Julian rode on a one eyed mechanical bull they had set up on the walk. A crowd gathered to watch him ride it one handed. He’s a little super-star no matter where we go.

Meeting Master Cole Kaylen

Today the family went down to the South Bay to see Aunt Tiffany, Uncle Chris and Cousin Cole. When first holding Cole I couldn’t believe that Julian was actually that small once and relished in the new baby smell (I love that smell!). I was told that Cole was a very sleep baby who doesn't open his eyes much , but while holding him he seemed very alert, staring at me and concentrating on my voice. After I held the baby it was Julian's turn. He was super excited about this. We were amazed at how well he did with Cole and how calm he was when Cole was in his arms. Julian tried to touch the baby’s face once or twice and when we told him not to he actually listened without any fuss. Eventually Tiff had to take the baby back to nurse and Julian started crying. It was so sweet. I can't wait to watch these two grow up together. I'm sure they'll be best buddies.

We think Tiff and Cole should be going home tomorrow. Hopefully we’ll get to see them on Thursday while Daddy is at work.
