Play Rice Time -- 12/30/09
I can remember when I was in preschool my teacher had a HUUUGE tub filled with colored rice and how that was one of my favorite things to play with. So for project time we took two bowls each filled with white rice, I placed several drops of food coloring (Ju picked the colors) onto the rice and then had Julian stir each bowl to mix in the dye.
After each bowl was nicely colored we added the two bowls together.
I also added dried beans for added fun.
Then I gave Ju a small bowl and funnel and let him go at it...
You'd be surprised at how much this can amuse a child. They love watching the rice fall out of the funnel, enjoy looking at the colors, and like how the rice and beans feel in their hands.

Christmas Day -- 12/25/09
It was a Christmas of plenty, but Julian's emotional response was underwhelming -- we thought he was going to go bananas when he saw everything. But like a typical spoiled American child his response was more like, "Yeah, I got Ben 10. That's right. I was expecting this."
Grandpa Pete and his wife, Shelly, came over for dinner which was amazing. They brought over a really nice bottle of wine. We finished that bottle along with the good bottle of wine Cousin Caneisha brought us from Mexico. It all went down so smoothly with the food.
All in all it was a great day since we were spending it with each other. Wish we could have been with the rest of our family too.
