Lazy Saturday Followed By a Lazy Sunday in the Backyard Garden, 2-7-10

I took these through our bedroom window, so if you see a white blur or light through them, that's why.  He hadn't had a bath and his hair was a little wild, but he still looks cute, hehe.  He loves "gardening" the weeds in our backyard.

Lazy Saturday Afternoon and Puff Paint, 2-6-10

After reading we went to Michael's and picked up a several things we needed to puff paint: Canvas (we spent $40 in canvas because you can never have too much canvas around here), glue and new paint brushes.

One cup of glue

One cup of shaving cream (Next time we'll try to get the generic white kind without scent.  The scented kind was nasty!)

Stir them together

The more you stir, the creamier and "puffier" the "paint" becomes.

Divide the puff paint into different bowls.

Add food coloring and stir

And let them go at it!

This is where it turned into a disaster, lol

I didn't like how the colors came out pastel, so I added actual paint to darken them up.

So how it puffs..

Usually my craft projects with Julian work out pretty well, but Jer and I both say this one was a miss more than a hit.  For one, I think he is too young.  Because the paint is puffy it's really attractive to the younger ones and they want to use their hands, which causes a mess and flattens the paint. I also didn't like the colors too much.  We'll wait to try this project again when he's a little older.  And next time we'll try small brushes that don't load as much paint onto them.  In my opinion, not recommended for people with younger children.  But, Julian did have a good time, so that counts for something.

A mini food processor.  Good for baby food and chopping up garlic for my homemade dressing!

A new knife set for Jer // Another set of Pyrex (I <3 Pyrex!) -- We're trying to go green and get rid of plastic.

A new picture frame for the Grandparents' recent picture.

A wine rack -- It looks a little lonely, so if anyone want...  they can send us delicious red wine. ;)

Julian's First Field Trip to the CDM with His Class 1-22-10

One Friday the class went to the Children's Discovery Museum.  This was Julian's second time going and he was just as excited as the first time we went.
